From Greece to Austria: Niki's ski instructor education in Austria

Talking to Niki, one thing becomes immediately clear: skiing was never just a "winter hobby" for her. Niki Lymperopoulou, 21, comes from Naoussa in northern Greece – a region not immediately associated with racing. But it was there, on the edge of a small ski resort, that her career began. And yes: skiing is taken seriously in Greece, too.

From an early age, Niki chased after slalom course, competing in national races until she was 17, living and breathing the rhythm of training. Quitting? Unthinkable for her. Only the route would change – not the passion.

Greece also offers great opportunities for winter sports, like here in Parnassos.
Greece offers fantastic opportunities for winter sports as well, as this scene from Parnassos clearly demonstrates.

Why becoming a ski instructor was the next step for her

The idea of teaching wasn't sudden for Niki. After her racing career, it felt more like a logical next step: staying involved in sports and passing on what had brought her so far to others. She describes it as rewarding to guide people in their improvement, just as her coaches had done for her. And then, at some point, the question arises: Where does one truly make the "right" move?

Why ski instructor education in Austria

Niki was already familiar with Austria from previous skiing trips. She likes the country, the mountains, the whole setup. At the same time, she expresses something many international candidates know: at home, time on the snow is more limited. The season is shorter, the opportunities fewer. Anyone who really wants to improve technically needs repetition, feedback, and many consecutive days spent honing their skills.

That's precisely why she opted for ski instructor training in Austria at the Snowsports Academy – and not just for "another winter trip".

Niki and her international course group hold certificates and smile after 10 days at the Snowsports Academy.
Plenty of smiles all around: Over the course of 10 days at the Snowsports Academy, Niki and her group became like one big family.

How she found Snowsports Academy

Niki came to the Snowsports Academy through a recommendation. Upon reading about it, she was convinced that the program was both professional and humane: clear structure, good reputation, supportive environment.

She wasn't nervous before the trip. Quite the opposite: finally, it's starting.

Her first impression on site? Very positive. Clear organization, understandable process, pleasant hotel. "There were clear instructions on what to do and how the schedule would work," she says – and that takes the pressure off, especially when traveling from abroad.

Internationality that goes beyond just the flyer

What Niki emphasizes most is the group. She met people from many countries, quickly made friends, and forged genuine friendships. Although the course lasts around ten days, she felt like she'd known each other much longer. This mix of diverse backgrounds and shared enthusiasm is what creates the special vibe.

Professionally, she has primarily learned how to structure lessons effectively – from beginning to end, more clearly, more effectively. She has also gained new approaches to working with different levels and age groups. And personally? More independence, more adaptability, more confidence in an international environment.

And what's next? Niki says openly: She wants to come back to Austria – for further courses and in the medium term also for work.

Niki's journey serves as a reminder that ski instructor education is much more than just technical instruction: it's a springboard. For new perspectives, for personal development, for a life in the snow. Anyone who listens to Niki quickly realizes: you don't have to come from a major ski region to take big steps. You just need the courage to take them.

Finally, three words that stuck with her: “Inspiring. Supportive. Immersive.”
