The state-certified ski instructor represents the highest level of training in Austrian ski instruction. The training program spans over an entire winter season and imparts in-depth technical, methodological, and biomechanical knowledge, enjoying high international recognition. Graduates often assume leadership, training, or international roles in snow sports.

Between November 20 and 30, 2025, Sulden made one thing very clear: winter had arrived. On November 21, the first trainee instructor course of the Snowsports Academy in South Tyrol began. Despite a challenging journey due to fresh snowfall, 40 mostly local participants came together – and against the impressive backdrop of the Ortler, a strong shared spirit emerged from the very first moment.

Niki’s journey shows that ski instructor training is about much more than technique. It opens new perspectives, builds confidence, and connects people from around the world. Hooray, it’s snowing! The Alps are once again covered in winter white, and many ski resorts are preparing for the start of the season. Conditions on the Kitzsteinhorn Glacier are already excellent, where the Snowsports Academy has successfully conducted its first ski and snowboard instructor courses of the winter. Participants from more than 30 nations began their training there, marking a strong start to the new season.

To kick off the new winter season, the instructors of the Snowsports Academy met at VAYA Fieberbrunn, the hotel of the academy’s new partner VAYA Hotels. In a modern alpine setting, the meeting focused on preparation, professional exchange, shared experiences, and team spirit ahead of the upcoming winter season.

Successful Start to the Winter Season: Around 260 participants are currently completing their ski and snowboard instructor training at the Kitzsteinhorn Glacier, enjoying excellent snow conditions and a fantastic atmosphere. A particular highlight is the new training center at the VAYA Hotel Zell am See, located right next to the Schmittenhöhe valley station. The perfect setting for a strong start and a successful winter season ahead.

From August 16 to 17, 2025, the Women’s Summit took place in the New Zealand ski resorts of Treble Cone and Cardrona. The event brought together women from across skiing and snowboarding, from instructors to ambitious amateurs, creating a platform for empowerment, professional exchange, networking, and high-level snow sports.

For the first time, the Snowsports Academy has conducted a ski instructor training course in Southern Africa. At the Afriski Mountain Resort in the Kingdom of Lesotho, located at 3,000 metres above sea level, participants were trained according to the Austrian ski teaching curriculum. With this project, the Academy underscores its commitment to the international development of ski instructor education.

From the 2025/26 autumn season, Hotel VAYA Zell am See will become a new training center of the Snowsports Academy in the Zell am See-Kaprun-Kitzsteinhorn region. The location offers excellent conditions for ski and snowboard instructor courses and expands the academy’s training network with another high-quality facility.
