It's that time of year again: the first significant snowfall has reached the mountains, and the Alps are now resplendent in their familiar white mantle. Within just a few days, the landscape at higher elevations has noticeably changed. Where late autumn colors once dominated, there are now clear, white expanses. Winter is making its presence felt – not as a mere announcement, but as a reality.
The recent snowfall has dramatically changed the landscape of the Alpine regions. In the higher elevations, slopes, ridges, and sections of ski runs are now completely covered in white. Many ski resorts are working intensively on the upcoming season start, and some have already been able to open their first lifts. The shift to winter mode is visible and is becoming more noticeable in the mountain regions every day.
While the valleys are still in a transitional mood, preparations have been underway for weeks in the high-altitude areas. Stable conditions prevail on the Kitzsteinhorn, which traditionally has an early start to the winter season. These early conditions allow for a professional start to the season – and simultaneously form the basis for the first education courses of the Snowsports Academy.

The first ski and snowboard instructor education courses of the season took place in recent weeks. Demand was high, and the course groups were more international than ever before: participants from more than 30 nations traveled to Austria to complete their ski instructor education. This diversity demonstrates the strong interest in the Austrian training system and its global significance.
The fresh snow conditions meant that the training could take place in real winter terrain right from the start. This was an ideal beginning for the participants: they moved along grippy slopes, practiced their techniques on the snow, and gained a realistic picture of what working as a ski or snowboard instructor is like in practice right from the beginning of the course. The early onset of winter gave the entire season a dynamic start.

With the recent snowfall, Austria has regained its wintry silhouette – not across the board, but clearly visible where the mountains are high enough to withstand the first winter. Conditions for the start of the season are improving daily, and the mood in the winter sports regions is correspondingly optimistic.
Hooray, it's snowing! Winter is back – and with it, the joy of a new season in the snow.
