The ski resort: A paradise for winter sports enthusiasts
The Gastein Valley in the Salzburg region is a paradise for winter sports enthusiasts. Four diverse ski areas offer a total of approximately 200 km of slopes. You'll find a wide range of blue, red, and black runs, making it easy to find your preferred terrain to carve your tracks and rack up the kilometers on the slopes.
But the Gastein Valley has much more to offer than just groomed slopes. For freeriding enthusiasts, the region is a true paradise. With wide, north-facing runs and fresh powder snow well into the afternoon, as well as exhilarating tree runs and steep couloirs, the Gastein Valley offers an impressive variety of freeride experiences.
The Gastein Valley's high-alpine location guarantees reliable snow conditions and makes it a popular destination for freeriders. The Sportgastein ski area, in particular, which reaches an altitude of 2,686 meters, exerts a magnetic pull on freeriders. Here, numerous powder slopes can be reached without long ascents.
