Ski jumping in the federal capital? Sounds surprising – but it's reality.
Vienna is actively involved in winter sports – especially in youth development. With record participation, targeted training, and a strong public presence, the Vienna City Eagles demonstrate that even far from the Alps, there's jumping, development, and celebration.

Record-breaking young talent: WienAIR 2025
WienAIR 2025 was a sporting milestone: 146 children and young people from all over Austria took part in the Vienna State Championships in ski jumping – more than ever before.
Lacking its own ski jump, the event was held in Höhnhart, Upper Austria. However, Vienna remains the center of youth development, where the athletes receive daily support from a professional team.
Behind the success lies a clearly structured system: The Vienna City Eagles – a ski jumping club based in Vienna – offer young talents targeted technical training, camps and performance-oriented development opportunities.
Even during the summer months, there is jumping and training, for example at camps in Hinzenbach, where athletic progress and team spirit are equally important.
Ski jumping up close: Sports Day at Heldenplatz
On September 20, 2025, all Viennese residents will have the opportunity to experience ski jumping up close. At the Day of Sport, the Vienna City Eagles will be present with an information booth and interactive stations – right on Heldenplatz. Anyone who wants to know what it feels like to take off is in the right place.
In Vienna, success isn't a matter of chance, but rather of structure: With clear goals, strong youth development programs, and a visible presence, the Vienna City Eagles demonstrate that ski jumping thrives even in the metropolis. In November, the club celebrates its 20th anniversary – and looks forward to a bright sporting future. Learn more about the Vienna City Eagles club at: www.stadtadler.at
