Thanks to groundbreaking technology and innovative solutions from the Austrian company Lympic, the Austrian Ski Federation's (ÖSV) speed team has taken a decisive leap forward. These solutions combine digital timing, GPS tracking, and video analysis to enable highly detailed real-time analysis of the entire racecourse – without significant effort or extensive technical expertise.

The technology in detail

The Lympik system was developed by founder Thomas Peroutka, who himself was a competitive athlete for many years. His vision was to create a sensor that would accurately indicate whether time was gained or lost with every turn. After years of intensive development, this vision became a reality in 2023, and the Austrian Ski Federation (ÖSV) teams now train with these innovative sensors.

How does it work?

The high-end sensors, manufactured in Austria, deliver precise data on the athlete's speed, acceleration, and trajectory. This data is uploaded to the cloud in real time and is immediately available to coaches and athletes. Special cameras are used during training to document the action. The videos are then uploaded to the Lympik app, where the sensor data is automatically overlaid. This allows coaches and athletes to analyze within seconds where there is potential for improvement.

A glimpse into the future

The analysis results are available to the teams directly on their smartphones, allowing them to gain insights into their performance while still on the slopes. This wealth of data enables coaches to make informed decisions, such as choosing the optimal line under given conditions or even making adjustments to equipment.
